Blessed Assurance

1 John 5:13 These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.

As a child it was nice to hear the melody of Blessed Assurance, but it was not until later that I was able to understand what the lyrics meant to me.

Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine, oh what a foretaste of glory divine, Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his spirit washed in his blood. This is my story, this is my song, praising my savior all the day long….

The song is a declaration of God’s love, and his ultimate gift of the great redeemer, his son, and by the stripes of Jesus, our souls are cleansed, we are healed, body, mind and spirit when we are in him.

In life, situations can suddenly occur, even in the midst of confusion and frustration, we can become lost in direction. But embracing the confidence and assurance that God is in us, He hears and answers our prayer. In confidence, we can testify of His love, and his action. When we are grounded in his scriptures of His assurance and not waver in doubt or fear, but to seek God in all situation, we lean on him and not on our own understanding, we give constant praise and thanksgiving for his favorable outcome.

Isaiah 32:17  The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

Acts 17:31  Because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

Colossians 2:2  That their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.

Hebrews 6:11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end.

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
