Tolerance

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9

Tolerance

Tolerance is being patient, understanding and accepting of anything different.  How often does opportunities emerge for us to see ourselves in the eyes and actions of others.

People may feel innocent to mention a detail or two about someone else fault; yet become bewildered and hurt if it is directed toward them. Most of us do not escape life without being deeply touched by such actions. We may even feel offended, yet this may be allowed in order to teach us what we need to know about ourselves.

We have seen the sobering effects of the actions of others (justice, racism, favoritism), to realize that we are guilty of the very things that may have hurt us deeply! We, too, are responsible for what we say or how we act.

Mark 12:30-31 Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.

Psalms 1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. and he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
