Thank God for a Spiritual Life
We are truly thankful that God has given us another day and another opportunity to be used as his vessel to be his children. To be thankful that God has named us his PWs to be his soldiers, his protectors, his intercessors and advocates for those in need of God’s answered prayers.
Do we know how truly blessed we are to be called? We are privileged to commit ourselves; we open our hearts, feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and allow Him to work through us, in us and around us speak for those who may not be able to speak for themselves…Wow, Praise God!
I am so thankful and privileged that I have been called by God to do his will…The Lord knows this may not have been one of my life’s yearnings (once upon a time)…but what a wonderful revelation! Yes, we realize that we do not know all the answers, for if we did…there would be no need to experience the wonderful joys, blessings and opportunities that the Lord has given us!
I did not know what it meant to pray. As a child, we were taught the Lord’s Prayer and adding the “bedtime” prayer…”God Bless Everyone.” Whether I knew it or not, this was my first experience in praying for others. As a teen (and young adult), my prayer life was more systematic and my petitions were just that…my petitions!
I never knew what it meant to have someone pray over me until that moment in time when I felt my life was threatened with cancer; it was during my first pregnancy. During this time in my life, I was not close to the Lord; yet, because the Lord loves his children - even when we do not have him in our lives at times, his presence was revealed that day...there I was on my knees with tears rolling down my cheeks, choked up with fear…not even hearing the words of the clergy that were being fervently prayed, I was too deep in my own emotional mess! But, because of God’s love, I was able to experience one of the greatest “miracles” in my life! The knowing of his loving presence, His existence, my life begin to change, and yes, I came out okay and blessed with a healthy baby! This was the first step in realizing the Existence of God and his love and mercy.
As time went on, God did not allow me to venture too far away from him…I was pulled back over and over again! Ultimately, the Holy Spirit filled my heart, I began to feel for others; feel mercy, empathy and love for people, even people I did not know. This was the ultimate gift that God gave me and it was time for me to use this gift for others! Through prayers, presence and example; I have been blessed with being surrounded by loving, strong Christians. Although, we are challenged with the ideologies of the world by others, we are protected by the Holy Spirit, we are enfolded with God’s love and mercy and we are embraced with the Gospel of Jesus, that we are all saved by his Grace everyday. I was given another chance to be a faithful servant of God, his love, his presence, his power, his mercy that I can express with others.
Now I know I may be taking baby steps, but I will ultimately be able to take longer strides, and even to run the marathon for the Almighty God. I take this time to thank God for everything…My existence, the opportunity to learn and share the Good News with others. God is developing me into becoming a stronger advocate…studying the word of God, faith building, stronger prayer life, exercising stewardship, discipline and character building…I thank him for his love for me and to Glorify his Name, Precious Father God with thanks and praise all the days of my life.
Sciptures Ephesian1:15-23 (NIV)
15 16 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the
heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
