A PERSPECTIVE – GOD KNOWS
The issue regarding anonymous prayers has brought light to some concerns I once had. A few of us may have thought: “why anonymous?”… it is a new openness for me to expand my insight as a prayer warrior for a greater understanding and commitment to prayer. I have seen this in other prayer request access and have contemplated: “Why do we not want to reveal ourselves?" I truly believe through prayer and understanding in God’s words with the direction of the Holy Spirit, these thoughts of inspiration has come to mind based on scripture providing me with a better understanding.
Scriptures of support: One of the three attributes of God is His omniscience-all-knowing; but no less important as God’s omnipresence (all present/all-seeing or God’s omnipotence-all-power. Omniscience - The Bible teaches us that God knows everything completely and perfectly; as Creator, He is “Infinite Knowledge.”
1. (Genesis 1:1)"In the beginning-GOD created the heavens and the earth.”
2. (Psalm 44:21) “Would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?”
3. (Psalms 139: 1-5) O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit or stand. When far away you know my every thought. You chart the path ahead of me, and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am. You
4. (know what I am going to say before I even say it. You both precede and follow me, and place your hand of blessing on my head.”). Ezekiel 11:5 “For I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.”
Now putting this into perspective – the analogy and logic for my question: Why anonymous?
1. Some prayers are so deeply intimate by nature that details are too sensitive to be revealed. Respect a requester’s privacy.
2. Some names are hidden for fear of being judged: character flaws, sexual sins, adultery, obsessions and addiction, etc. Being a vessel of God’s love, we’re not here to judge or ponder but to lift up in prayer.
3. Some names are hidden for protection: Although details are not revealed, spiritual warfare may exist. Time after time in the Bible, our sovereign God has steered His believers into victory without details ever being revealed to the enemy.
4. Some names are not revealed due to lifestyle-related illnesses/disease; and may feel ostracized or not accepted if exposed. It is with respect and love to embrace with patience, love and understanding.
5. Some prayers are just that …Anonymous. We must respect those who prefer this choice. It is comforting to know that requesters are assured, strong in their faith to know that intercessory prayer is in place. It is our assurance and faith that prayers are heard by God!
One question has come to mind…”How can I pray if I don’t know what I’m praying for and for whom?”
of love, He knows all, He provides, He protects us (his children) in the midst – no matter what. As humans, we only perceive through human Again, bear in mind, God knows all, how beautiful is the scriptures in Psalm 139 (NASB). How much do we trust in God? We are created out
sight, and human understanding, but we must trust and believe that He will hear our prayers. Our Precious Lord truly knows the person, the situation, the intention, the motivation, the sincerity, the urgency, and what is revealed in our hearts.
If God knows all, what is our role as Prayer Warriors?
Our Heavenly Father knows what we want before we ask, yet as vessels of His love, He wants us in prayer and in unison serving His people. Paul was a "chosen vessel" unto Him, to bear His name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. We, too, are chosen vessels designed to be used and filled by God to provide service for those in need. He knows that we might have questions and reservations from time to time, but as servants, through obedience, trust and faith, we must see people through His eyes and love with His heart. We rely on the word that God knows all; we rely on the truth when we abide in Him; we do not feed on the misconception of unanswered questions. We believe and trust in His word to carry out His request– we live by faith and not by sight! In Him, in joint prayer, our prayers are strong… “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. (Matthew 18:19-21 NIV)
Eye-opener
Our God hears every word we cry out, even our unspoken thoughts. Our God remembers all the promises are “Yes” in Christ Jesus. And He is faithful to all those promises including the promise to work all things together for the good of those who love Him. Our God sees what is behind and what is ahead, all the threats, all the dangers. Our God knows us: our sins, our failures, our weaknesses; He knows our enemies, and the trials they will put in our path and most of all, He knows His plans for us; He knows the path by which He will lead us and how He will work all these trials together for our good and His Glory and His greatest commandments to us is above all else: "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:30-31.
Scriptures: God Knows your Name 1But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you. exchange for your life. 4Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in 5Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. 6I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, 7everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Isaiah 43:1-28 (ESV)
