Come “Holy Spirit” into our Hearts
June is a very busy month for some of us: Graduation Day: many of our family members and friends have or are waiting for that special moment to witness the “excel to excellence” celebration! Graduation commencement backed by the sound of “Pomp and Circumstance,” balloons, cheers and tears of joy! Our graduates march with pride and accomplishment; ready to take on the world. Father’s Day is a special day when we also recognize and honor our fathers and “father figures” who have demonstrated their love, support, sacrifice and dedication to those in their lives. Some have passed on before us, but we still continue to love, honor and cherish them throughout our lives. June Weddings – the exciting anticipation for newlyweds, full of love and hope, ready to begin a new life together...As this is significant to us as Jesus awaits his bride, the church, to join him in eternal bliss!
All of this excitement illustrates the essence of the Holy Spirit. For three years, the apostles were in full force training, listening, interacting and witnessing all that Jesus could teach them while here on earth. Their experience of Jesus’ teachings, devotion and love was truly received and accepted. By Jesus’ last will and testament, the Holy Spirit came into being. Because of Jesus’ love for us, he suffered, died, buried, resurrected and ascended into Heaven! But he did not leave us alone…He sent the Holy Spirit to be with us. His church became a reality; hence the day of Pentecost - the birth of Christianity (50 days after Easter).
The apostles were baptized in water; now they are baptized by the Holy Spirit. This miracle enabled the disciples to execute their mission to continue to spread God’s love and the Gospel with help from our dear friend. Equipped with the power of our Father, God Almighty! The Truth, the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and filled with the Holy Spirit, we too are motivated, trained and ready! Let us not be shaken with this task, let us remain steadfast… As with the graduates and newlyweds alike, we are yet to conquer unbound territories; but we receive comfort in knowing that: 12for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say." (Luke 12:12), we have the love and guidance and our Father, with the Holy Spirit within us.
We have seen other events of renewal and for different reasons, we make amends (New Year’s resolution in January) and Easter renewal – repentance and forgiveness. If you have not already, this is a good time to welcome the Holy Spirit into your heart; renew your spirit, rejuvenate your life; and motivate you into action.
As we approach the summer months, vacations and time for relaxation, let us not forget that there is always someone somewhere who needs our love, support and understanding, and who may not know God or God’s commitment or purpose– we are armed by the Holy Spirit at all times to introduce these wonderfully blessed qualities. It makes our lives so complete that the Holy Trinity is revered…Our Heavenly Father, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Power of the Holy Spirit all One. As the Holy Spirit is welcomed into our lives to fill our hearts, we await the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!!
Scriptures Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
25"All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:25-27 (NIV) 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 [a] Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
