Praise and Thanksgiving
What does it mean to give Praise and Thanksgiving to the Lord?
Give God Praise and Thanksgiving because He is!
What does it mean to give praise and thanksgiving to the Lord? He is our creator, He is Alpha and Omega, He is our creator and is worthy to be praised, He is Glory; we honor him because of who he is. To praise Him means we exalt Him, we worship Him, we rejoice in Him, we boast in Him, we please Him and bless and glorify His Holy name.
Signified in the words of the Heavenly Father to Job: “(Job 38:1-41) Where the wondrous works of God, God’s commands of the earth and the stars and the universe obeys, we are just a minute speck in God’s magnificent universe, yet, he knows each one of us by name, he knew us in our mother’s womb and knows our path before we do.
When you say, "Praise God," you mean "exalt Him". You cannot put Him too high. He is the most high above all.
Psalm 118:28 says: You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. "Praise" and "exaltation" are parallel words. What does it mean to praise God? That we to declare his presence and to have a personal relationship with Him is necessary. "You are my God and I will praise you. You are my God and I will exalt You." No one here is going to really praise and exalt the Lord without a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. That is so important to understand.
Psalm 9:1-2 says: 1 I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
Psalms 34:1-3 says:
1 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.
Give God Praise and Thanksgiving for our Salvation!
The Lord our Father has given us salvation through his Precious Lord Jesus Christ. Our redeemer, our deliverer, our teacher, our savior. Through his stripes we are healed. When Jesus said it is finished, it meant, one sacrifice has been made for us. That we as believers know that we are saved, we are healed, we are filled, we are at peace. We thank Him for dying on the cross to save us and to give us eternal life.
Give God Praise and Thanksgiving because he supplies all our needs.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 4:19) NASB)
In Christ Jesus - By the medium of Christ; or through him. All the favors are expected for himself, or his fellow-men, he believed would be conferred through the Redeemer. Even the supply of our temporal needs comes to us through the Saviour. Were it not for the atonement, there is no more reason to suppose that blessings would be granted for his people. For them no atonement has been made; and at the hand of justice they have received only wretchedness and woe.
Our God supplies all your need - That is, "You have shown your regard for me as a friend of God, by sending to me in my distress, and I have confidence that, in return for all this, God will supply all your needs, when you are in circumstances of necessity." Paul's confidence in this seems not to have been founded on any express revelation; but on the general principle that God would regard their offering with favor. Nothing is lost, even in the present life, by doing good. In thousands of instances it is abundantly repaid. The benevolent are not usually poor; and if they are, God often raises up for them benefactions, and sends supplies in a manner as unexpected, and hearing proofs of divine interposition as decided, as when supplies were sent by the ravens to the prophet.
According to his riches in glory - see the notes, Ephesians 3:16. The word "riches" here means, His abundant fullness; His possessing all things; His inexhaustible ability to supply their needs. The phrase "in glory," is probably to he connected with the following phrase, "in Christ Jesus;" and means that the method of imparting supplies to people was through Jesus Christ, and was a glorious method; or, that it was done in a glorious manner. It is such an expression as Paul is accustomed to use, when speaking of what God does. He is not satisfied with saying simply that it is so; but connects with it the idea that whatever God does is done in a way worthy of himself, and so as to illustrate his own perfections.
We give thanks to Him for supplying out daily needs.
Give God Praise and Thanksgiving even in the midst of the storms, through trials and tribulations…
In reality, it is hard for us, we only see what is before us, how we feel, what we have, the struggles, the pain, the loss, the grief, the despair…but, when we have God’s Grace, we are perfect in him. We know we cannot do this alone, we have our Heavenly Father, who can carry the yoke if we let him, sometimes we have to bear for a while to give a renewing of the mind…
One of my favorite scriptures. Told by Paul in his trials: 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10(ESV).
Notice that the Lord explains how I’m all the grace you need actually works in our lives: “For my power is made perfect in weakness.” “Perfect” means fulfilled, accomplished, completed, finished. God brings His sufficient and powerful grace to the relationship; all we bring is weakness. All of this is grace because we can’t do anything to deserve what He does for us. And He makes sure the results are perfect and complete.
